UGI Utilities is wrapping up its National Volunteer Week activities to benefit members of our military and their families.
It has been a great week full of celebrating the spirit of volunteerism and giving back to our communities – things we love to do at UGI.
Throughout all of our service areas, events focused on “Celebrating People in Action,” giving back to our service men and women and their families.
Fundraising events held in each local UGI offices including raffles, jeans days and other events to benefits organizations including the USO, Army Reserve and National Guard Associations.
UGI also held special book distributions as part of its partnership with Reading is Fundamental (RIF) during the week. Many of these distributions, which involved visiting elementary schools and handing out free books to students, included special appearances by UGI’s beloved “Reading Wizard”.
Tomorrow, the final day of National Volunteer Week, many UGI employees will also participate in the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup.
Finally, UGI’s social media efforts focused on raising funds for Operation Homefront of PA & DE, an organization that reaches out to soldiers and their families to help them with greatly needed emergency funds and morale-boosting services.
So far, we’ve successfully raised $1,205 for Operation Homefront of PA & DE and we’ve still got one more day to go! You can help us give even more by following this blog, following us on Twitter or liking us on Facebook. For each new like or follow, we are giving $5 to Operation Homefront of PA& DE. Help us finish strong for Operation Homefront!
Check our blog tomorrow for the final day of National Volunteer Week, when we will finish off this great week with a post from one of our very own employees who has served in the military.
On behalf of all of us at UGI, thanks to all of those who volunteer in our communities, thanks to all who serve our country and thanks to all who have helped support our causes this week!
